Good news for DiGi customers.
DiGi and Google have struck a deal that will enable DiGi users to make purchase of apps and contents in Google Play. Both post-paid and prepaid DiGi users will benefit from this deal.
With this newly-formed alliance, purchase from Google Play Store will be either deducted from airtime balance or debited into customer’s post-paid bills. Correspondingly, this means that DiGi customers can make digital purchase without the use of credit card, an option quite many still feel apprehensive in digital transaction.
Google Play was previously known as Google Play Store and Android Market, the latter referring to its mobile operating system’s name. It offers apps, music, magazines, ebooks, games and other range of entertainment media.
More than 5 million DiGi customers are on Android operating system. At present, DiGi is the third largest telco operating in Malaysia, behind Maxis and Celcom.
Concurrently, Google Malaysia has also teamed up with a number of local and international news and content providers to bring Google Newsstand app to the country. More than 40 titles are available for consumption, provided in multiple languages including English, Bahasa Melayu and Chinese. Some of the content providers include Esquire Malaysia, The Malaysian Insider, Malaysiakini, The Guardian, Reuters and The New York Times.
